1. Introduction
These terms and conditions govern your use of the Cartör website and all trailer hire and vehicle transport services provided by Fellows + Adam Limited (Company No: 15251857, VAT No: 454417492), trading as Cartör, registered at 20 Wenlock Road, London N1 7GU. By using our services, you agree to be bound by these terms.
2. Definitions
"We", "us", "our" refers to Fellows + Adam Limited trading as Cartör. "You", "the hirer" refers to the person or business hiring equipment or using our services. "Equipment" refers to any trailer or vehicle transport equipment provided. "Hire period" refers to the agreed duration of the hire as confirmed at booking.
3. Booking & Payment
All bookings must be made through our website or by contacting us directly. Full payment of the hire charge is required at the time of booking. A refundable security deposit of £250 is collected at handover by cash or bank transfer only. Payment of the hire charge is processed securely via Stripe. All prices are exclusive of VAT. VAT at the prevailing rate (currently 20%) will be added. We reserve the right to amend pricing at any time, though confirmed bookings will be honoured at the agreed rate.
4. Security Deposit
A security deposit of £250 is required for all trailer hire bookings. The deposit is collected at handover by cash or bank transfer only. This deposit is fully refundable upon the safe and timely return of the equipment in its original condition. Deductions may be made for damage, excessive dirt or debris, missing components, or late return. The deposit will be refunded within 7 working days of the equipment being returned and inspected.
5. Damage Waiver
An optional damage waiver of £25 is available at checkout. This reduces the excess payable in the event of accidental damage to the equipment during the hire period. The damage waiver does not cover wilful damage, negligence, theft, or loss of equipment.
6. Hirer Responsibilities
The hirer must hold a valid UK driving licence with the appropriate category for towing (e.g., B+E where required). The hirer is responsible for ensuring their towing vehicle meets the minimum towing capacity and has a suitable tow bar fitted. The hirer must inspect the equipment at collection and report any pre-existing damage. During the hire period, the hirer is responsible for the safe use, security, and condition of the equipment. The equipment must not be sub-hired to any third party.
7. Collection & Return
Equipment must be collected and returned at the agreed times. Late returns will be charged at the daily hire rate (£75+VAT) for each additional day or part thereof. A half-day rate (£37.50+VAT) is available where the overrun does not exceed half a day. The equipment must be returned in the same condition as collected, clean and free from excessive dirt or debris. A condition check will be carried out at both collection and return.
8. Cancellation Policy
Cancellations made more than 48 hours before the hire start date will receive a full refund. Cancellations made within 48 hours of the hire start date will forfeit 50% of the hire charge. No-shows or cancellations after the hire start time will forfeit the full hire charge. The security deposit is always fully refundable in the event of cancellation.
9. Insurance
The trailer is insured for roadworthiness. However, the vehicle being transported must be covered by the hirer's own insurance policy. We strongly recommend checking with your insurer that your policy covers vehicles in transit on an open trailer. We accept no liability for damage to vehicles being transported during the hire period.
10. Limitation of Liability
Our total liability to you in respect of all losses arising under or in connection with the hire shall not exceed the total hire charge paid. We shall not be liable for any indirect or consequential loss, loss of profit, loss of business, or loss of opportunity. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation.
11. Service Area
Trailer hire is available within a 50-mile radius of our base in Stockton-on-Tees (TS17). Vehicle transport services are available locally. Delivery and collection of the trailer to your location may be arranged for an additional fee, subject to availability.
12. Governing Law
These terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
